Cleveland Metropolitan School District will shift to remote learning during the first week of 2022 due to COVID-19 concerns, district CEO Eric Gordon announced Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2021. He added that families will be able to pick up meals at the school closest to their home, even if their child doesn’t go to the school. Gordon also reminded families and staff to report COVID-19 cases to the district’s coronavirus hotline or send an email to covid@clevelandmetroschools.org. The news of CMSD’s temporary switch came around the same time as Gov. Mike DeWine’s coronavirus briefing Wednesday. DeWine addressed the Cleveland district’s move to remote learning, saying he and children’s hospitals would like to see children in school. He noted that the benefits of in-person education have “been particularly articulated by our pediatricians and particularly articulated by our hospitals.
