University of Chicago Medicine is temporarily closing its urgent care aid in Flossmoor to redeploy staff in the face of rising numbers of people seeking care for COVID-19 symptoms, according to a spokeswoman.

While the Flossmoor site has been seeing an increase in people coming with possible COVID-19 symptoms, shifting staff to larger urgent care sites maximizes the number of people who can be seen, said Kelletta Blackburn, a U of C Medicine spokeswoman. In recent weeks, U of C Medicine has seen an increase in the numbers of people coming to its hospitals and urgent care centers with COVID-like symptoms, Blackburn said.
