A Victorian driver who claims he has no memory of killing a high school principal because he was so tired has been jailed.School principal Debbie Locco died after being struck by Hyslop's vehicle at Beaumaris while cyclingChris Hyslop today appeared in the County Court of Victoria where he was sentenced to nine-and-a-half years behind bars over the death of Debbie Locco at Beaumaris on a May evening last year.
Dashcam footage showed Hyslop veering into an oncoming lane 14 times over an 11-minute period prior to the crash. "Ms Locco's death is solely attributable to your actions in driving your car while impaired by fatigue to a significant degree."Hyslop's erratic driving was witnessed by multiple road users as he made his way through Melbourne's bayside area with four passengers.The court heard that in the six days before the crash, there was only one night where his phone was not used between 10pm and 7am.
The court today heard that during the journey, Hyslop told one of his passengers that he was okay to drive.
Seems like a very light sentence given all the circumstances reported. Is it just because the weapon was a car?
