Minister for Housing Darragh O’Brien has said a decision on whether to reopen schools on Wednesday is due later on Tuesday evening

In Kerry, 1,240 customers have been affected by a power outage at Milltown, and a further 2,387 homes and businesses close by.

Around 23 premises in Bantry, Co Cork were partially flooded this morning as Storm Barra hit the country. Mr Collins said that the south of the square in the town and New Street are now clear following extensive work by the emergency services. All schools are advised to keep up-to-date with weather warnings in the event of any change in the status for their area.The HSE has said the National Ambulance Service will be prioritising emergency calls today, but road conditions may be poor and there may be more emergency calls than usual. Some HSE services will be closed and some appointments have been cancelled.

In Co Clare, outpatient appointments have been cancelled in Ennis Hospital but some elective procedures will go ahead patients are being contacted directly by the hospital to confirm if their procedure is going ahead or not. The Injury Unit at Ennis Hospital continues to operate as normal between 8am and 8pm.
