is preparing for an onslaught of Schoolies visitors, with extra measures put in place to protect partying school-leavers this year.Up to 20,000 senior students are expected to descend on the city from tomorrow.
Chris George, the national Schoolies co-ordinator of Red Frogs, said volunteers were getting ready for the influx of party goers. "We're expecting to hand out over 5 tonne of Allen's red frogs this year and cook 50,000 pancakes," he said.READ MORE:Police and emergency services are also getting ready, and have called on extra staff from around the state.
Justin Payne from the Queensland Ambulance Service said paramedics would be available to look after intoxicated teens, who are particularly at risk. "The QAS is very concerned about drugs and alcohol and other high risk activity, in particular the use of e-scooters around Surfers Paradise precinct," Mr Payne said.Police will also be patrolling the streets, this year equipped with metal detectors to crack down on knife crime.
