SIBU: A 16-year-old student has been arrested for allegedly dumping her newborn baby boy in the bushes behind a house in Mission Road, Song.

The Form Four student was arrested by a police team at 6.30pm on Thursday , nine hours after the baby was found.

Song OCPD Deputy Supt Rowney Michael Jalak said they received a call from a 34-year-old construction worker, informing them that his sister heard a baby crying behind their rented house at 9am. “The man and his sister went to inspect the bushes in the backyard and found a naked baby boy there. His umbilical cord was still intact," DSP Rowney said on Friday .DSP Rowney said after being questioned, the teenage girl admitted that she was the mother.The girl has been sent to Kapit Hospital for medical check up.DSP Rowney said the boyfriend, aged between 15 and 16, is a school dropout.
