Garland has asked the FBI to meet with local law enforcement to discuss escalating threats over Covid policies.

A series of Republican senators took turns making scathing comments on Wednesday over Attorney General Merrick Garland's request for the FBI to investigate the escalating number of threats made against local school board members over Covid guidelines....

Lawmakers like Sen. Ted Cruz , Sen. Ben Sasse and Sen. Josh Hawley were among those lashing out at Garland on Wednesday, but Sen. Tom Cotton appeared to deliver the strongest statement, saying Garland"should resign in disgrace" over the memo. The memo specifically notes that"spirited debate about policy matters is protected under our Constitution.""Thank God you are not on the Supreme Court," said Cotton, who left the room after his comments. Reporters who saw Cotton on the way to the hearingSen. Cory Booker fired back at the Republican claims, noting the only action the memo requests is for meetings to be held to discuss strategies to discourage, identify and potentially prosecute threats.

Garland faces relentless GOP pressure after issuing memo on school board threatsCongressional Republicans have been unrelenting in their criticisms of the October 4 memo, which laid out how the department would work with state and local authorities to respond to threats of violence and harassment against school board officials. How often do Republican's have to shout in America's collective ear, 'we hate Democracy, Truth & the Rule Of Law', before they are believed. No matter how loud, often or ridiculous, many don't seem to notice. Is it that an American overthrow is too farfetched ? IT AIN'T !!
