The proposed policy requires student self assessment and student goal setting as part of the reporting process.

BCTF president Teri Mooring says in the letter that teachers should consider five key changes being proposed.Teachers will be required to provide learning updates on student learning in all subject areas five times a year and three of those reports must be written.

The first update must be provided within the first 25 per cent of the learning period for a particular subject or course.All K-9 updates must use the provincial proficiency scale, while Grades 10-12 must use grades and percentages and may also use the proficiency scales. The Ministry is replacing the current I grade for incomplete with a new IE grade for insufficient evidence.The policy also requires student self assessment and student goal setting as part of the reporting process.
