N.C. school board passes strict rules for teaching about race after threat to cut funding

A revised code of ethics policy includes new wording such as “the United States foundational documents shall not be undermined,” and “all people who contributed to American Society will be recognized and presented as reformists, innovators and heroes to our culture.”

April Lee, president of the Johnston County Association of Educators and an eighth-grade social studies teacher, said the school system is “selling our souls to the devil for $7.9 million.” She also said the new policy is “basically extortion.” Last month, North Carolina Democratic Gov. Roy Cooper vetoed a bill that would have limited how public school teachers can discuss certain racial concepts.

Still won’t erase the proud history of all those plantations & their families who became wealthy off the backs of slaves

AS North and South grow farther apart, one wonders if they can live together at all.

Here’s hoping NC_Governor Cooper will eyeball this.

That should be easy since that’s not a thing.

This school district board needs to attend their schools to witness that no CTR has been taught in their schools before they embarrassed themselves. How do ignorant people like this get elected to positions where they have control over children’s education? Vote to them out!

Can any supporter of CRT accurately define it? And/or explain how it unites us as a society? Also, why do you support it?

Withhold of federal assistance, fema , pull military bases all of it.

Here’s one line of a locally penned “history” of Johnston County: “The first European and African settlers came from…” People ask me why I so regret leaving America to move down here.

I’m assuming this will be easy since CRT is a freaking college law course that isn’t taught to grade schoolers. So much dumb outrage over nothing.

CRT relies on faked history and racist arguments to try and indoctrinate students. Schools should teach students to do the 3Rs and think for themselves rather than try to indoctrinate them.

Waste of money & time CRT was never not taught in K-12. Critical Race Theory is something taken and or learned at university especially for those who may want to practice law in the future and thus specialize in it.

The same people who want to legislate bathroom use have now turned their ignorant efforts to dictate what not to teach about racial injustice and slavery. Hey North Carolina, why not burn some books while you are at it!

Maybe I’m naive, but do any schools (beyond law school) even teach Critical Race Theory? Seems stupid to fight a problem that really doesn’t exist.

CRT is not taught in pre-k through 12. they are using CRT as a catch all to stop teaching actual history. this is just another way of protecting the white washing of american history.
