ANALYSIS: In trying to end racism by talking about race, do we risk reinforcing it?

This was a little lesson in what is known as critical race theory. An "L" plates lesson. CRT emerged in the United States in the 1970s to explain how race is institutionalised and sustained in law and public policy. According to the theory, it even seeps into individual bias, conscious or not.

Xi Jinping reminds his people to never forget what he calls the "hundred years of humiliation" from the fall of the Qing Empire and the Opium Wars with Britain in the mid 19th century and the "liberation" of the Communist Revolution in 1949.Liberalism has a race problem. It can't just legislate it away.

When my school mate was pointing out my dark skin, he didn't see that my grandmother was white. My family on my mother's and father's sides is Aboriginal but they are what we would clumsily refer to as "mixed race". Still, it is naive to imagine, as some do, a post-racial world. Martin Luther King Jnr may have dreamt of a world where we are judged not by the colour of our skin but the content of our character but even he did not truly believe that day would soon come.

One kid was called gay, one was called smelly, one was called loser one was called black... And yes you are creating a divide of hate and placing everyone into boxes based on appearance. Racism is what authority use to divide by getting dimwit people to fight each other.

I hope everyone commenting will watch this series rather than jump to conclusions TSTTTER

Your own PM is running around creating posse of HATE. Then you wonder why we have discrimination and victimisation. Your govt is stuck in a colonial cold war mentality.

🤔🤔😂🤣 'End racism' unfortunately that will never happen. There is always one race or culture who think they are more superior than another. That will never go away.

My kids have been placed into 1 binary box over another too many times. monoracial spaces r often closed to them & in 2021 r still called half caste. Multiracial people shouldnt be made to feel lesser. They belong to fluid spaces,& people should embrace ambiguity

There is no such thing as race, dba has already proven it just you all won't get educated on it as all the public school funds are being diverted to private religious institutions

If you want multiculturalism then make it multicultural. When the kids do play racism goes away.

great what you are doing but unless you tackle the real issue seriously you are wasting your time …. It starts in the family home that is where you need to educate not in schools ..

ASPaul85 In reacting to talk of racism as “woke” and “politically correct”, do we succeed in attracting the racist vote?

Na the Aboriginal broadcasting corporation ( was Australians broadcasting)making a FOOL of itself , at taxpayers expense

endracism

As ThomasSowell said, “Racism is not dead but is on life support kept alive by politicians, race hustlers, and people who get a sense of superiority by denouncing others as 'racists'” ABC never misses an opportunity to divide Australia finding racism where none exists auspol

Fantastic piece. Stan receives a lot of attention and backlash for his work across many subjects. I've viewed it a cultural bias from people who don't expect an aboriginal man, to present as Stan Grant. It's interesting.

As much as Stan would like to engineer responses to q's such as 'Why are you so black', the answer is a simple no's game as he states, most people WERE white in Aust at that time 🤷‍♂️

Children being manipulated with terms like “” white Privilege “” dramatically escalate far right thinking - though whatever is happening may have had good intentions - it’s too far left and close to social engineering

Yep. You drive towards what you focus on. Change the language to what the goal is, rather than mention race talk about something like equality or parity.

Perfect example of racism is the lockdowns in nsw

I guess you do, when you blame one race for racism. CRT does this.

Very much so, like very very much so
