The deputy permanent secretary, Ministry of Education, Stephen Sunday, who serves as the chairman of the recruitment and screening committee, further, noted that the number of applicants has been reduced to 4,685 candidates after a painstaking and pragmatic screening process to avoid compromising the quality of teachers to be employed into the teaching corps.
“We are taking a more painstaking and pragmatic approach because of what we found on the ground. In previous years, a lot of persons became teachers when they cannot even write or teach. That is why our students are failing in their exams. We want to change that scenario, now”
