The recent continuous tragic building collapse in Lagos State has been described by social commentator Adetona Adewale Akeem, better known as Slimfit, as

The three-storey building which collapsed at No 14 Massey Street, Lagos Island on March 13, 2019, was at the time being used as a school building. Slimfit, noted that the building, as confirmed by Lagos State Governor Akinwunmi Ambode when he visited the scene of the tragedy, was marked for demolition as far back as 2015 for failing the building integrity test.

While avowing that the country ought to have reached a stage where citizens should be “reaping the dividends of a functioning and visionary Government,” Slimfit said it is now imperative that the government fix the rot in the educational system.
