A student opened fire on a university campus in the Russian city of Perm this morning, killing eight people before he was detained, investigators have said

A student opened fire on a university campus in central Russia this morning killing at least eight people, investigators have said, in the second mass shooting at an education facility this year.

Videos circulating on social media showed students throwing belongings from windows from buildings on campus before jumping to flee the gunman. Investigators said that man suffered from mental health difficulties, but he was deemed fit to receive a licence for the semi-automatic shotgun he used in the attack.
