FILE — Massachusetts National Guard soldiers help with logistics in this Friday, April 17, 2020 file photo, at a food distribution site outside City Hall, in Chelsea, Mass. Mass. Gov. Charlie Baker on Monday, Sept. 13, 2021, activated the state's National Guard to help with busing students to school as districts across the country struggle to hire enough drivers.
Republican Gov. Charlie Baker said 250 guard personnel will be available to serve as drivers of school transport vans. It's not clear how long the guard would be helping with busing or how many districts it plans to support. But Baker stressed the busing duties won't interfere with the guard’s ability to respond to other major state emergencies.
Schools across the U.S. are offering hiring bonuses, providing the training needed to get a commercial driver’s license and increasing hourly pay to attract more drivers this year.
Have the contractors pay the driver's living wage and you won't have this problem
Can't they just walk, like normal kids.
They're struggling to find drivers because they are limiting the number of students on each bus. You're welcome for the egregious context you were missing
Bet those kids' parents ain't say squat about a mask now
I mean, who wants to be exposed to that many children who might have Covid in a confined area? 🤷♀️
