adia Whittome originally made headlines when she became the “baby of the house” in 2019, elected at the age of 23 as Labour MP for Nottingham East, in an election whose main take-home was how many seats Labour had lost. She was a firebrand or maverick – insert your favourite term for “disobedient” – from the start: hard-remain when Corbyn’s office was all about the lexiters, further to the left than Starmer has turned out to be .

Good on her for speaking out.
It doesn’t change the fact that she’s in parliament, and representing a community within the UK. A country with millions of people. No one in parliament should have PTSD. Opportunities for all, but I.E no paraplegic pilots. No PTSD MPs. Common sense.
You have a banded Afghanistan and betrayed a nation who trusted you and lost over 100k Men/women who fought to save your street from international terrorism. Western media choose to go silence and black out the betrayal of the National resistance in Panjshir. Shame on you.
I hate when people act like combat is the only valid cause of trauma. There's a reason it's called *post-traumatic stress* disorder, and not battle fatigue anymore. PTSD, to quote Shakespeare probably, is a fuck. Good for her getting a diagnosis, maybe now she'll get support.
Best of luck she is one of the boldest MPs and a strong woman who represents the people well, if I existed in her constituency I would’ve definitely voted for her although I won’t vote Labour under this current shit version of leadership they have currently
It's all too easy to forget that even in modern societies life can be brutal and what we need in terms of mentalhealth may not always be available to us. I'm glad she has managed, but PTSD recovery is much slower and harder without adequate levels of safety and support.🤕🥺
She doesn’t appear to have done a proper days work in her life ? Appears to be woefully unprepared for the job .
VICTIMAS DE RELACIONES PSICOPATICAS TAMBIEN ADQUIEREN AL STREES POSTRAUMATICO
The mentalhealth pandemic is upon us and the NHS is underprepared without a shift in the mental health treatment model. Our work using Real-World Evidence will allow us to lead the shift through data and science, supporting regulator decision making and issuing real change!
It's quite common for people not to understand what PTSD is, some people have learned about Mental Health and will be sympathetic and understanding, but the minute you mentione PTSD they stop the sympathy and don't understand at all!
Did she ever find that missing PPE
As a fellow PTSD sufferer, glad she made it through. Now try doing it without the 3 months full pay and minimal intervention. It's a very different recovery journey for the privileged.
Pathetic.
So she dropped out of uni then dropped out of her job for a few months. Not a great look for someone who's constituents rely on to turn up and represent them
It’s an insult to people who really do have PTSD.
Guys, it’s 2014 again
A shortlist of two.
PTSD for what ? A chipped finger nail? Spilling a cup of tea?
Glad to know she could turn to Private Medicine for her mental problems. And her mother had them too which meant she didn’t work. Does she really think with that mental instability she can make a good MP? Better to go back to the care home for the sake of her constituents?
Is her constituency in a war zone?
The idea that this silly kid is an MP is utterly depressing. Unfortunately she is in such rotten company she doesn't even stick out much.
What a dreadful piece. You all really do learn in uni how to write alot without saying anything of substance eh.
How reassuring.
She recovered quick.
