Good read although some of the people I've seen involved with this program still like to use aspurgers as a term for some reason
The blurring of the line between normal/abnormal rewrites the story of autism, now a spectrum that can be described in terms of severity, freeing capitalist markets to proffer remedies, grow autism industry and commodify human difference (Mallett and Runswick-Cole 2012)
I honestly gotta disagree with those who are against this and claim it's 'eugenics'; I swear you can't do research on anything these days without people trying to cancel you for it when the studies are literally going to contribute to improving our lives
Richard_Autism Ahhhh, because it looks like eugenics 😢
Because Spectrum_10K is run by someone known for pushing a eugenics agenda. And because they talk about 'wellbeing' without knowing or caring in the least what contributes to autistic folks' struggles in society. It's obvious they stuck that word in to try placate the masses.
dr_shibley Not sure how they can expect more women and girls to take part when it is being pushed by the ultra sexist Baron-Cohen who pushes gendered brain theory and believes autism is extreme ‘male brain’ leading to misdiagnosis of girls and women.

We're there any non-white people asked any questions in that piece? More like to have experienced medical experimentation and eugenics and DNA misuse - and there are non-white autistic people.
Autism is not a disease and needs no cure. No valid reason for DNA testing. Curious research agenda that perpetuates a deficit understanding of human diversity.
Ask any autistic person about the difficulties they experience and I'm fairly sure they'll say the cause is discriminatory attitudes, policy and practice rather than their own DNA
I have learning difficulties and even I know what ‘learning difficulties to talent’ means. One is a negative symptom of autism and the other is a more positive trait. As someone with epilepsy and autism I’m interested to see what the study finds.
Too much pop-up advertising - can't read the article
If Spectrum10K 's apparent inability to answer simple questions, their ambassadors tweeting abuse to people, ignoring a huge amount of very concerned actually autistic people and not even bother to make some of their FAQ's even understandable it doesn't bode well. Spooky stuff.
ArabelsRaven85 Mmm a privatisation investigating autism, why did they not just fund the expertise already in the NHS…🤔
Dear .sbaroncohen, The reason I appreciate your research, is because through your research, I developed a massage, which helps to treat my Autism. It's through an head, eye and facial massage. I am able to read emotions better and make emotions.

Thank you for creating this resource LiamODellUK!
Thank you. It’s hard to get stories like this to break out of the autistic bubble. Non-autistics always seem so surprised that we’d oppose something like this. They need to know!
Thank you for covering this. I find it very concerning that the genetic company they've chosen has already been shown to have ethical deficits.
Thank you for sharing the voices of ActuallyAutistic people We all hope that we can StopSpectrum10K !
