The policy follows a survey of 12,000 Qantas employees indicating overwhelming staff support—around 75%—for mandatory vaccination and 89% of employees are either already vaccinated or planning to be. About 4% of the staff surveyed, which represents around 60% of the company’s Australian workforce, said they were unwilling or unable to get the Covid-19 vaccine. Joyce said many Qantas employees said they would feel uncomfortable “working with unvaccinated colleagues,” an issue many employers around the world are grappling with.
