Hundreds of thousands of students in England, Wales and Northern Ireland are receiving their grades to help them progress on to university, work or training

Any rise in the number of students achieving top A-level results does not represent a "devaluing of grades", a school leaders' union has said. Geoff Barton, general secretary of the Association of School and College Leaders , said this year's students have suffered more disruption than any cohort and their results should be "celebrated".

If a student has kept up their end of the bargain and earned the grades they need to start their course this year, they should be certain there is a place waiting for them. You would be better off going to trade school and studying code, plumbing, being and electrician and so on. Unless you are a physics or biology major, what is the point?
