Drivers are debating whether the school speed zones should be enforced while fewer kids are going to school during lockdown.

Students returned to at-home learning at the start of term three and based on NSW’s coronavirus situation, it looks unlikely schools will re-open for several months to come.

He was caught by a speed camera as he travelled north along Woodville Road in Guildford, west of Sydney, and received two demerit points. “That’s where I got fined too last week. I didn’t even think, because schools are in lockdown,” one person wrote in a comment.“It’s confusing when it’s Covid and there’s no kids at school. They shouldn’t fine you, just like when it’s holidays,” a third wrote.Source:news.com.au

I got fined for going 7km on Woodville rd at a school that has been in total lockdown since 21st July 2021. There is no one there, no lollipop person and the main entrance is not even on Woodville road. The school lights were not even flashing.

They should be 40 kmph 24/7.

Who cares

But surely there's hardly any traffic and a nicely shortened commute anyway?

School zones are just that school zones.

Anyone else notice the infringement notice is wrong. Was pinged doing 52kph however offence was for 10kph or less

What is you sample size…2?

Really? Nothing more important to report like, maybe government corruption or criminals in parliament!

Are we really in that much of a hurry ?

Just do the speed limit and stop complaining, every life is valuable, don’t just follow the rules because there are more kids at school or expect them to be relaxed because there are less at school, what if it is your child that is hit and killed?

Where are they driving too in a hurry in lockdown? Click bait

Absolutely not, 1 kid attends or 400 kids attend what’s the difference, let’s compare that logic to Covid-19 then. Another stupid headline from you lot

That will only add to the confusion, there are still kids attending anyway just leave it be.

There are still kids going to school and crossing supervisors doing their job, so of course we should slow to 40 kmh. How many seconds do you really gain by going through at 60+kmh

What drivers 🤷🏻‍♂️ schools are still open some with kids.

Why? The kids and drivers need the spaces to be always safe. No to retrain the brain

NSW Government will NEVER suspend school zones regardless of how many are actually at school or on the roads. They make a killing in fines from them. From the government's perspective, it would be insanity to pause them.

Oh geezus... it costs you 20 seconds. Deal with it.

Of course keep the rules as is if they at school. Who cares about numbers as only takes one to have bad accident or death

They should absolutely still be enforced. My deaf son still attends school during lockdowns as do some of his deaf peers. Cars & deaf children makes me nervous.

Fewer… or none? None I understand but fewer makes it even more dangerous for those few kids. Dropping your speed for a hundred metres or so won’t kill you - but imagine how you would feel if you dragged one of those little buggers under your car that far.

If kids are going to school, its a school day so you slow down. Pretty simple.

Shouldn't be a debate. It's a school term, you don't know what schools have students attending or not. They are also enforced on pupil free days.
