Schools absences are at the highest level since pupils went back in March as Covid continues to spread in classrooms.

The government is looking at plans to scrap bubble measures over fears too many children are falling behind on learning.

Current rules state that children have to self-isolate for 10 days if another pupil in their bubble tests positive for coronavirus. Scientists have broadly backed any change to the rules, with Professor Adam Finn, from the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation , coming out in favour this week.
