Author of ‘The Barefoot Investor’ Scott Pape says kids are finishing school and yet “know nothing about money”, despite financial education being something they’ll be tested on “every day of their life”.

“Their parents say that they’re lazy, they have no idea about the real world, they don’t know the cost of anything, and then they graduate and they prove their parents right,” Mr Pape told Sky News host Andrew Bolt.

Discussing a solution to the issue, Mr Pape said financial education and teaching kids the value of hard work and spending wisely are things “they’re going to use every day of their life”. “A pass or a failing grade really colours their entire life,” he said.

Agree, there needs to be something done because a lot of parents can't provide guidance either.

It should be state funded schools responsibility to teach teenagers about money, Simple as that. The benefits to our economy would be felt greatly, shrinking the welfare spending

Polio survivor: 'I know from experience' what happens without vaccination | Sky News AustraliaA Melbourne polio survivor is furious many people are hesitant about having the COVID-19 vaccine after he contracted the disease at just two years old in 1953, three years before the Salk vaccine was made available.\n\nGeoff O’Brien had to wear metal callipers to support his legs and also wore plaster casts at night until he was 12 years old.\n\nMore than 65 years later he is still suffering from post-polio symptoms and says high vaccination rates eradicated the disease.\n\n“People in their 30s, 40s, whatever, just don’t understand what it’s like to go through an epidemic … people were in a panic state in the early ‘50s, keeping children out of school, out of swimming pools,” he told Sky News. \n\n“It’s the same as it is today but as I say if it weren’t for the polio vaccine we’d be in dire straits.” \n Let him be furious. We don't owe him anything. Polio is spread by the fecal-oral route. Wash your hands, no vaccination needed. This 'survivor' also seems to equate vaccines of the past with the anti-covid version, which are entirely different types of vaccines. We're not all that bovine. 'One of these things is not like the other' Piss Off.

ABC's 'Australia Talks' initiative should be called 'Australia Spins': Kenny | Sky News AustraliaSky News host Chris Kenny says the ABC's 'Australia Talks' initiative is not really a report on what Australia thinks – it's more like 'Twitter views' of the world.\n\nThe ABC's Australia Talks initiative 'is a massive joint opinion research project with a polling firm and Melbourne University,' Mr Kenny said.\n\n'One of the biggest problems with this, as I've have highlighted before, is that it is not representative, the sample is large but it is based on people who have been responding to an ABC online initiative.\n\n'The ABC insists their survey does not reflect mainly ABC audience views, even though the respondents are based on those who use the ABC Vote compass survey.\n\n'They cannot pretend, surely, that that those people who fill out the Vote Compass survey make up a random sample of Australians.\n\n'Perhaps instead of calling this Australia Talks it should be called Vote Compass talks, or ABC programmers market researchers and taxpayer-funded activists talk.\n\n'Or simpler, Australia Spins.' You should do one for the bloke that watches Sky to balance things out.... Chris, if you and sky had any integrity you might make a serious attempt to understand what people want rather than belittling an honest attempt by the ABC Is that like the SkyNewsOz view of the world?
