Speaking on RTÉ's Today programme ahead of tomorrow's start to the Leaving Certificate exams, Ms Foley said students who do not feel well on the day of their exam should not come to the examination centre.
Ms Foley said 99% of students have opted for accredited grades. She said 91% have opted to take a written exam in one or more subject, and said 40,000 students have opted to take written exams in five or more subjects. "About 40,000 students, have opted to take five or more of the written subjects so I think really results like that are testament to the very positive and good decision to give that an opportunity for students to avail of the accredited grades, the written exams or indeed a combination of both." She added that "this have been a particularly challenging 18 months for the class of 2021.
Ms Foley assured students that the results will be issued on 3 September, with CAO results offered made the following Tuesday, while Wednesday the 8th of September is the deadline for UCAS acceptance of offers.As for schools in general, Ms Foley said the operation of schools from September will continue to be led by public health advice and that schools will remain vigilant to the threat posed by the Covid-19 virus.

Absolutely ridiculous. There is NO ONE that would skip their leaving cert if they are feeling unwell. They will dose up on paracetamol, attend and spread Covid.
