“Piracy can only be effectively fought by the government and its agencies responsible for combating such criminal acts. The National Copyright Commission should be strengthened to perform their constitutional roles. Other agencies like the Police, Customs, SON, should be educated on their roles in fighting this menace. Above all, a political will is required to eradicate book piracy and theft of other intellectual property rights.
“Other challenges are as a result of the rot we are experiencing in most aspects of the Nigerian life. They could be corrected once issues like power, industrialisation and the need to provide quality education are fixed,” he said. All rights reserved.
