Funmi Ogundare in Lagos and Adedayo Akinwale in Abuja

This is coming as the Kaduna State Government has denied threatening to prosecute individuals who pay ransom to bandits to free their loved ones. “Of course, they were not talking directly to the state government; what they kept saying was that they wanted to speak with the state governor and it was not possible reaching out to the governor, coupled with the fact that the government was not ready to negotiate with bandits.

Aruwan said: “We want to correct this impression; there is no point in time that the government of Kaduna State said it is going to prosecute individual or individuals who pay ransom.
