A British charity called Windle Trust International has set up a program to help teachers in South Sudan obtain their high school diplomas and begin professional training. It also runs a mentorship scheme for girls who have obtained places in secondary schools.
It turns out that Sunlight's Primary's headteacher is also interested in the trust's high school diploma programme. Sky News has obtained a letter issued by the UK's ambassador to the country, Jonny Baxter, on 27 April, informing South Sudan of"significant reductions" to the overseas aid budget. The cuts to the Windle Trust, which is one of five members of the Girls' Education South Sudan consortium, seemed to be a clear breach of that commitment. The Foreign Office says it has had to take 'tough but necessary decisions'
Therenare more countries in the world than the UK. And there's a more effective way of improving their lives...... Such as... Kick their government out for a start.
We should not have a foreign aid annual budget at all. Help should be given when natural disasters like flood and hurricanes etc. occur. Issues with failing countries where people want to kill each other have to be dealt with on a multi-national way such as UN.
Foreign aid is white savior action
They should put one of those adverts our on daytime tv, maybe use Bernie Winters and Schnorbitz?
We all know the money never get’s to the people who need it. Look at South Africa ex President Zuma. He has built himself a palace and little town with all the Foreign aid. Worst of all is the world knows what he has done and nothing has been done about it.
Go to the United Nations it has stacks of dosh and doing sweet fa
That country will always be in trouble.
Sly News pushing same old agenda
All those complaining that we have stop aid how about Sudan instead of buying weapons they use the money to help their people ! They have just finished war games with Egypt only 5 days ago ! Just imagine how many teachers they could afford instead of a few planes or tanks !!
We give billions perhaps others could lend a hand
Perhaps put some of it into the UK who actually needs it
Sorry. But the UK is almost penniless thanx to Covid-19 support. Cuts have to be made if that means trimming overseas aid. Then so be it.
A shame but it is not our reponsabilty to bankroll the third world!
