'It breaks my heart that she feels this way'

old should believe the sky is the limit so it breaks my heart that she's feeling this way. I tried my best during lockdown to help her but she became extremely overwhelmed and frustrated with the work. I've oozed into private tuition but I really don't know if I could afford it. Any reccomendations on maths programs would be appreciated. I have already bought her a tines table app. Thanks in advance.

You are most definitely not a rubbish Mum. You care enough to want to help. Year 4 maths... Where do I start with this one. During lockdown my 9 year old was sobbing with her head in her hands over year 4 bloody maths. She asks me what the point was because she would fail at it anyway. Now my first instinct, not my smartest I will add was to ban Maths. If it made her that miserable then we ain't doing it. Then I was rational enough to accept that she needs these skills so I tried to help.

These are quite reasonably priced too for a year's subscription. I personally would stay away from private tuition. Ask your teacher what maths they are studying and have a look on twinkl for free resources, you will find a lot of the resources on there are pay for.I would ask her teacher for help. He can point her in the direction of online resources that would help or differentiate worksheets for her.She absolutely can be a teacher even if maths is her weakest subject.
