Having just finished a Masters post 40yo I welcome the idea of funding. I took out a postgrad loan, I paid it back before I graduated but it still cost £800 in interest. You can only borrow once too. I full believe in life-long learning and would learn more if it was be funded.

Just been thinking back to Labor’s Gough Whitlam who gave mature age students a free tertiary education. Only costs were registration fees and text books for courses for 5 years...there was a student allowance also, small, but adequate-Fraser dismissed Whitlam allowances lost😠

Education should be free, not a business to make money. Period.

Four year funding. What provision is being made for students on medicine or dentistry courses that are 5-7 years long? Do special provisions exist? Or are those professions becoming totally elite, open only to this’d who can afford to fund the extra years upfront?
