MORNING BRIEFING: Vaccination hubs will not open in NSW for those over the age of 50 from Monday, a move at odds with the national plan, and the Catholic Society at the University of Sydney comes under fire for displaying a sign on the uni's main thoroughfare asking students if disabled people are a 'burden on society'.

NSW won’t open the doors of its vaccination hubs to all Australians over the age of 50 from Monday, at odds with the national plan.

With no international students or working holidaymakers, hotels are struggling to find food and beverage workers, chefs and other skilled staff, Michael Johnson, the head of Tourism Accommodation Australia, said."But it's not just regional, it's also happening in our CBDs, and we're finding the hotels in Sydney are now capping off their rooms," he said.

The society defended the choice of placard on its Facebook page, explaining it was part of its "Life Week" activities and was designed to make people think of the "invaluable contributions" made by people with disabilities. Indigenous writer Ellen van Neerven took out three awards at the NSW Premier's Literary Awards last night, including Book of the Year.
