The accident, which occurred late Tuesday night, also saw two other students of the institution critically injured and currently hospitalised.Sources in the institution identified the deceased students as Hamza Lawal, studying Mathematics Education; Hamza Hamza, and Salisu Garba, both studying Geography Education.
Those injured include Halili Ibrahim and Abdulbasit Aminu, studying Physics and Geography Education respectively. A spokesperson for the university, Abdulhamid Danjuma, and UMYU’s chairman, the National Association of Katsina State Students, Ibrahim Nasir, confirmed the incident. They described the death of the students as a great loss to both their families and the university, even as they prayed for a quick recovery for the two hospitalised students.
Bad roads, excessive speeding, unfit for safe use vehicles, worn tyres, faulty brakes, poor driving skills, the list goes on. May their families take strength from the Lord, and the departed be in peace.
