UBC student gets 'go home' note and keyed car over Ontario plates — via drivingdotca autonews

While I wouldn’t dare delve into the loaded question of what it means to be a Canadian here on this dedicated car publication, I am not afraid to say this:

But somebody did it to Brynn Weigelt, a BC resident and student at the University of British Columbia – just because her car had Ontario licence plates. Her high from a fun day of skiing on Vancouver’s Grouse Mountain on Friday was harshed when she came back to the parking lot to discover her car not the way she’d left it, presumably because somebody thought she was an Ontarian on vacation in defiance of COVID-19 travel restrictions.

It was a handwritten note that said “go home and stay home,” but it wasn’t the nastiest part—the car had also been badly scratched. Weigelt also told Global that she’d seen drivers with out-of-Canada licence plates leave notes on their cars explaining they had foreign plates but actually lived locally, but didn’t think she would be targeted for being from Ontario.

drivingdotca Ontarians responsible for the outbreak in NS. They are reckless, selfish and stupid!

drivingdotca Thank you to Premier John Horgan. This falls squarely on his shoulders for making narrow minded, short-sighted, and poorly thought out statements. We are all Canadians after all. Aren't we Shame on our leaders!! Send him the bill.

drivingdotca Disgusting & shameful behaviour. So sick of all this shaming & blaming of others. Our collective culture and our Constitution was derived on the right to be free, to self-determination, to chose our path - whether you agree with the choices people make or not. China we are NOT.

drivingdotca Way it should be 👍

drivingdotca This has been going on far too long. It’s sad that I feel I have to put a Cdn decal, a university decal , and a sign on my US-plated vehicle explaining my legal presence in the province I grew up in.

drivingdotca Well, this is what happens when the left turns fear into a virtue.

drivingdotca I wonder if the media has had something to do with creating so much FEAR across Canada that there is now hate for Province's with high 'case' counts. Hmmmm no that couldn't be.
