‘Pretty woeful’: NSW Education Minister says new consent videos a missed opportunity | natassiazc

They include a video of a teenage girl smearing a milkshake in a teenage boy’s face without his permission, in order to represent sexual assault or rape, which has since been widely shared online.

“I think the conversations that I’ve been having with young people around consent and respectful relationships education, is they want it to be explicit. They want to have an honest conversation about these issues. “It’s not a resource I’ll be recommending to Victorian schools. They completely missed the mark and I won’t be recommending that our schools use them.”

“Community members, teachers, and school leaders were also consulted to ensure the content was engaging for students and consistent with community standards,” a spokesman said.

natassiazc So I just went to the website and its a very impressive overall program. I also read 'If someone is too intoxicated or affected by other substances to drive, then they are unable to give or gain consent.' - I never knew every time I had sex until my 30s I didnt give consent

natassiazc Truly awful!!

natassiazc I feel excluded, nobody has asked to touch my butt with a pizza for years

natassiazc What a waste of money. Why didn’t they make the video about realistic situations

natassiazc No matter how shit a minister can be there are no consequences for anything. Morrison has only removed a woman minister so far for his rort too.

natassiazc Not woeful, STUPID!

natassiazc $3.8 million for this debacle. LNP the biggest wasters of taxpayer money. The PM went berserk over $20,000 but not a word about this or the covid app.

natassiazc Stop treating kids like idiots.

Morrison govt slammed for teaching consent with tacos and milkshakesRape prevention campaigners have slammed the Morrison government’s “confusing” new consent education campaign for schools featuring bizarre videos of a woman smearing a man’s face with a milkshake. And I bet women were involved in the writing and making of the video. Any truth in that. I bet many of these teachers have ‘been there and done that’ with regards to handing out tacos and milkshakes

Parent and school principal groups not consulted over new consent videosAustralian parent and principal associations say they played no part in developing the federal government’s new sex and consent resources, despite assurances that community stakeholders were consulted over the $3.8 million project. It’s obvious no one was consulted. The Morrison Government so out of touch Fair to say the gov didn't do any consulting on this. It's a $3.7m distraction.
