Deakin University Chair of Epidemiology Professor Catherine Bennett says Australians will be encouraged to get vaccinated against COVID-19 if they can see the "shorter-term rewards" starting to play out. Professor Bennett spoke to Sky News host Chris Kenny about issues relating to vaccines and Australia's border.

"We've got to start to see some of those conversations happening about what's safe or what else we need to do, or what are going to be those benchmarks that say we're at a point now where we can take this next step," Professor Bennett said. "Because that will also encourage people to vaccinate, I think, if they can see those shorter-term rewards starting to play out because we've now got a better level of control.
