The De La Salle University (DLSU) will implement a one-week academic easing from April 6 to April 12 amid a spike in coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases in the country.

In a Facebook post, the official student publication of DLSU The Lasallian announced that the Academics Council has approved a resolution for one-week academic easing in both undergraduate and graduate level.“For the College of Law, sections for graduating students shall have regular classes during this period. This will allow graduating students time to review for the bar exams,” the resolution read.

The academic easing will reduce the number of synchronous sessions and new topics; examinations and graded activities will not be conducted; and submission of deadlines are canceled. Meanwhile, students who are infected with COVID-19 or are affected by COVID-19 because of a household infection or having problems mentally coping with the situation may secure an “excused absence” from their Associate Dean.

According to the university’s Help Desk, students with excused absence due to COVID-19 are allowed to make up for missed requirements during the leave and shall be exempted from ineligibility rules for the succeeding semester. Faculty members who are infected by COVID-19 or are placed in isolation may avail “special sick leave due to COVID” for up to 14 days.
