I’ve just finished inhaling Porterhouse Blue, Tom Sharp’s spiky satire of life at a reactionary Cambridge college. It is side-splittingly funny, and though written in the 1970s, feels bitingly contemporary, with instantly recognisable ‘types’. One of the most beautifully drawn is Lady Mary, the “great and good” wife of the new college master. A priggish reformer in the Polly Toynbee mould, she insists the college go co-ed; for no particular reason beyond a stubborn disdain for tradition.
Madz_Grant Did anyone proof read this? There are a few grammatical issues, or more likely that sentences and been copied and pasted at random... Great read nevertheless.
Madz_Grant Hi Madeline, There seems to be an issue with your article on the telegraph app today. There’s a full stop & comma after education and the. It starts at the beginning again. I’m not sure if education is supposed to be the end. If it is nice article if not, tell us more 😊
Madz_Grant Paywall, shame.
