A former USC soccer coach gets eight months in jail for taking $200,000 in bribes to help applicants get into the school as bogus athletic recruits. Jorge Salcedo has received one of the longest sentences in the case dubbed “Operation Varsity Blues.'

FILE - In this March 25, 2019, file photo Jorge Salcedo, former University of California at Los Angeles men's soccer coach, departs federal court in Boston after facing charges in a nationwide college admissions bribery scandal. Salcedo pleaded guilty in April 2020, and was sentenced to eight months behind bars Friday, March 19, 2021, for pocketing $200,000 in bribes to help applicants get into the school as bogus athletic recruits.

Jorge Salcedo told the judge that he joined in the college admissions bribery scheme because he was desperate for cash after buying a house his family couldn’t afford. Salcedo said he takes complete responsibility for his actions that have destroyed the life he knew. U.S. District Judge Indira Talwani told Salcedo he chose “what appeared to be the easy path” to fix his financial woes, adding that “it invites the logic that if this hadn’t been stopped it would have continued.”

Not USC.

And to think their subpar, low IQ offspring would land positions of power and influence in various industries. *shitsandwich supreme* Coming right up! Another thing: Why do they almost all look the same? Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, I know why.

Ex-USC soccer coach..relegated for 8 months for 'hands-on' violation - Ex-USC soccer coach, Jorge Salcedo, gets 8 months in jail for taking $200,000 in bribes to help applicants get into the school as bogus athletic recruits, via 'Operation Varsity Blues'

cmarinucci A salary of $800k and free room and board in a country club for 8 months? Where do I sign up?

*UCLA

Abandon arrogance no matter what. Throw it away no matter what. We're just sinners.

Trojans or Bruins?

So he got more time than the people who gave him the bribes

I mean, ironic that a minority coach gets jail time to set the example when college football coaches have been paying players for 50 plus years with nothing but institutional hand slaps.

That’s still quite a profit for a few months of getting free food, housing, and healthcare.

*UCLA, not USC

Liberal democrats at their finest... then they lecture unedumacted folks like me on morals

Coach goes to jail, parents get probation.

Hmmm...

UCLA or USC?

So many corrupt choices by people who are not stupid, but stupid.

You corrected the story, but still put USC in the tweet... D'oh!

You mean UCLA? It's right there in the headline...
