[W]hat about the millions of people who have struggled for years to pay off their own debt? Or the people who went to affordable schools when they could have gone to a better school, but chose not to because they didn’t want to have the loan in the first place? What about all those parents who sacrificed and worked second jobs to put their kids through school? It’s about taking responsibility for your decisions and your actions. Making sacrifices. No one is owed anything.
It’s not. Some of us were responsible enough to make better decisions and pay them off ourselves.
We shouldn’t cancel. Instead lower the interest rates and delay the payment requirements... but if someone takes out a loan, they need to be accountable.

Universities colleges need to be made affordable.chancellors should not be paid millions and still increase tuition. This is a root cause and not one politician will even attempt to change this due to their pockets are deep into this mess. My daughter is 65k in the hole no job
I didn’t take out loans until I saw people abusing the financial aid system being lifetime students. The government had to put limits on pell grant lifetime usage and I knew then there’s going to be a huge bubble I should get inside too and take advantage
