Mr Sherry, of Newtown, Celbridge, Co Kildare, brought his case against the Minister for Education and Skills and the State.
He said he was “hugely disappointed” his teachers’ estimated CAO points total of 542 for him was reduced to 487 under the process. His first course choice was pharmacy in TCD. The Minister and State denied the claims and maintained there was no reason to believe Mr Sherry would be in an improved position if historical school data was included.
Norma and des method of standardisation was unfair ,biased and cruel and has affected the mental health of so many teenagers and their families. Many of these unfairly downgraded have lost a year because of this .How can everyone in a school be downgraded?Rank 1 and 2 also?
We want fairness and transparency. Can the new algorithm be used on the unfairly downgraded 2020 students?
The major impact was when Norma interfered with algorithm one week before results then didn’t test it. Normas FAIR and EQUAL algorithm where she takes your grades and give them to other students. BTW Can we have our 44 points back please have to go into cao again this year
Teachers, their unions and parents, should call for the ministers resignation. No room for secret political interference in Ireland’s Education.
Unfair to put credibility of the students PG results in question. Yet these inflated PG students have course choice. Or intend to get a better course this year and impact 2021. However, fair to take the futures of hardworking students LC20/LC21. Unbelievable!
‘Fairness should apply to ALL leaving cert students’ totally agree Una ...no more needs to be said, everyone knows what happened LC2020
Fairness should apply to all leaving cert students.
The decision of the Dept.on results last year must stand otherwise we are heading down the same road this year. Not good for anyone.
