The Education Policy Institute says they take fewer qualifications at a lower level than more affluent peers.

But there were variations across England, with poorer students the equivalent of around five A level grades behind in areas including Knowsley on Merseyside, North Somerset and Stockton-on-Tees).

Sam Tuckett, senior researcher at the EPI, said: "For the very first time, this exploratory research gives us a clear understanding of how disadvantaged sixth form and college students are progressing with their learning compared to their peers. Disadvantaged students are also more likely to take fewer and lower-level qualifications which adds to the gap in results. There is a "strong case" for extra funding for 16-19 education to stop poor pupils falling further behind, the report suggests.

Don't worry. Previous years have shown teachers consistently overgrade poorer students.

Work a bit harder. Nothing ever was on a plate.

Give it a rest

WHY ARE THE BBC SHOWING A PICTURE OF 2 BLACK BOYS WITH THIS TITLE..... FUCKING RACE BAITERS...!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Levelling up? Conservatives GavinWilliamson

Interesting that the idea and concept of poor is linked to minority ethnic people so find those images of young black boys b/c that's how they're seen by the bbcnews 🤔. Wonder if they were discussing technology, Veganism or animal rights they would use these images.

Being poor has nothing to do with it. It's the attitude to education that matter

Not everyone is academic - we’ve been pushed to think A-Levels and University is the only way to succeed, it’s not. We have many highly skilled professions that do not need to be A-Level or Degree educated.

Grades are not everything, event those who are not academically bright can have great futures with drive and determination. In my profession I am surrounded by people with PhD's who are simply admin pen pushers on average salaries with seemingly little aspiration.

Academic achievement is not, and never will be, the be all and end all. Even a person who makes metal washers all day can be highly skilled!

This is liberal bullshit and makes my blood boil. At the risk of sounding lke Geoff Boycott, my mum was a school secretary who trained late in life to teach kindergarten while Dad was a fireman. I went to Oxford, my sister to Newnham, Cambridge.

I owe you an apology to ever doubt your sincerity and professionalism. It’s was just like a dream to me when I received my first payment. After my second payment it became a reality now after several payments it has become a way of life. SamuelEddy_

TORIES have done this... TORIES policies and cuts.

This is not news. It’s been known for decades. The best idea is to improve people’s lives in society generally especially the poorer ones as the gap between these and the better off is widening all the time.

Recently my friend's baby was diagnosed with acute lymphocytic leukemia & needs a stem cell transplant. Jason & his wife are first-time parents caring for a sick baby & could use some help. If you are in a place to donate or share, it would be appreciated.

The kids of bbc employees should be fine then on the back of those who are forced to pay telly tax to keep them in the manner to which they have become accustomed whilst their kids fail in school.

Does it occur to the person who wrote this that Smarter People might be naturally and normally 3Graades Ahead?
