VANCOUVER -- A Kamloops, B.C., dad is speaking out after his daughter was allegedly sent home from her high school this week for wearing a knee-length dress layered with a long-sleeve turtleneck.He says his daughter Karis, who is in Grade 12 at NorKam Secondary, was singled out by her teacher for what she was wearing when she showed up for class on Tuesday.
Wilson says his daughter walked home from school in tears— and he has been left with many questions about what happened, and why her choice of clothing would be a problem in the first place. He says he spoke with the school principal and asked to see the school dress code and was alarmed to see one of the rules is to “not to wear clothing that is distracting to teaching or learning."
This sounds exactly like Muslim religion restrictions. Men are too weak & get tempted by women. Men ! Get your act together! This is Canada a free country!
It does look. like a slip...Somehow , underwear. should not be worn over clothes The next thing you know, teenagers will. feel free to wear their bras and underwear on top of their clothes...Underwear has a purpose .....Keep those undues where they. belong..
This is why uniforms should be worn to school. What is she going to do when she goes to work and has to adhere to a dress code? Is her father going to call her boss if she's not following proper dress code at her job?

Looks like my black slips. If so, the slip would be very see-through below the turtleneck Dad’s photo is showing. Depending on how long the turtle neck is, her ass and underwear may be in full view. Likely the real issue the female teacher was bothered by. Full picture is needed.

If you are unprepared for a test, say that your teacher’s outfit makes you uncomfortable. They get sent home, no test!
1. She did nothing wrong so she should have just returned to her seat. 2. The teachers would have backed down in order to avoid making a scene in front of class. 3. If they didn’t she could simply leave that class temporarily to consult with a counsellor.
In 30 years as a teacher, I’ve seen girls wear some crazy crap. I’ve seen things that I can never “un-see”. When I’ve needed to act on a dress code issue, I have always been discrete - the female principal or vice-principal is told about the student, then she deals with it.
If she dressed as a transgender guy and wore the same outfit she probably would get away with it and not shaming transgenders of course

It is not the young girl's responsibility to ensure her teachers are comfortable... The teachers that feel uncomfortable and triggered by her attire need some self-reflection to understand why they are triggered. They chose to make the girl feel uncomfortable because they were.

It's not about Liberalism or Conservatism. It's showing up to work, as an educator, or as one being educated, as a professional. Dress and act as such in the role you play. We're blessed! Education is free and there are circumstances for that freedom such as DRESS ACCORDINGLY!
Male teachers are the ones being accused of sexual assault and impropriety. Just being accused will ruin their career. They can also end up in jail. I think a little empathy for Male Teachers isn't out of line considering. We hold teachers to a standard, then students also.
