Along with Warren, Schumer and Pressley, at least 14 other senators and 45 representatives signed on to the resolution reintroduced Thursday. The movement has gained traction, as the resolution was put forward only in the Senate during the previous Congress.

Practical Solutions to the Student Loan Crisis: 1). Limit the loans to $15k annually to encourage prudent educational choices. Private lenders can provide extra loans if insist more debt. 2) Instead of cutting the debt just eliminate the interest which is compounding problem.

What about the parents who took out a second mortgage to send their kids through college so that their kids wouldn’t have to take out such a large student loan. Favoring only federal student loan borrowers is unfair.
Why favor only federal student loan borrowers? Why not borrowers of mortgage debt, auto loans, credit card debt? Isn’t the onerous burden of $50k student loan debt the same as the burden of $50k of credit card debt or mortgage? Favoring federal student loan borrowers is unfair.
What about the kid who didn’t go to college and instead went to work or joined the military. Does that person deserve a $50,000 check? Seems fair to me.

Over here in civilised countries, like eg Germany college is tuition free. Back then when I studied, I had to pay a fee per semester (about $30), all in all it amounted to $240 for 8 semesters, that was it+expenses 4 literature. & that´s how it should be in a civilised society
