Disadvantaged families 'locked out' of education due to costs of online learning, children's charities say

Low-income households are also less likely to have an internet connection in their home, instead relying on expensive mobile phone data packages at a time when paying for weekly food and heating bills is already extremely challenging.Mr Khan said: "With some families facing the choice between heating and eating, and now trying to afford data too - we need urgent action to support those suffering most during the crisis.

The campaign has also raised £700,535 which has been donated to charities and schools, from local businesses, trusts, individuals and foundations.Alawia and Khadijia Adam from Easton in Bristol said being able to engage in live online lessons was 'a lifesaver' Alawia said: "It made a big impact on our lives - you can get more work done - live lessons are amazing, actually."You get more education and more work done."

This is a real issue for many families. We are so blessed StRonans1 by the generosity of our local business community & churches in providing devices for our pupils, supplementing what we received from peterweirmla to enable us to meet all requests. Thank you to our donors ❤️

LFTrust last May, we launched GiveIT to schools and Foodbank users providing laptops and tablets to children - we continue to invite applications

we have been working towards a GiveIT campaign with LFTrust to distribute laptops we are aiming to ride 3000 miles virtual/local to get these laptops to schools and communities Digitalgap cycling CentralRegionBC

Knocks out 7 then expects others to foot the bill......who could possibly see a problem with that?

Seven kids, how about only having as many kids as you could support? We have to.

We have turned to crowd-funding and relying on the amazing generosity of donors to try and fill the gap. We have been humbled by the donations so far and are nearly at our revised target of £10k. Any help appreciated!

Children got to go school ASAP no half term needed in may or Easter break or summer break , they had enough breaks and need to catch up with their education and life

Khadra Siyad says she cannot afford laptops or broadband for her 7 seven children...so a Government Scheme is going to provide them. Have we gone totally mad in this country?

Maybe seven children is the problem to her shortage of money !!

7 foreign children we are forking out for, bloody 7, claiming benefits, housing, schooling, healthcare, this country is pathetic.

Can afford to have seven kids, wtf!!. Contraceptive that she needs.

Recently, my friend's baby was diagnosed with acute lymphocytic leukemia (blood cancer). My friend, Jason and his wife are first time parents and could use some help. If you are in a place to donate or share, it would be appreciated.

PlayStation and xbox have web browsers

Maybe if someone had given her a telly she wouldn’t have 7 kids and then be able to afford a laptop🤫 Absolute p*ss take.

stop talking rubbish ,7 kids why ,you the BBC are a waste of space ,do a news piece on stop having children and wanting everything given to

And by the way schools are helping all children providing meals, laptops, hard copies of work, psychological help and even wifi dongles

There are many real disadvantaged children I and feel we need to get them the correct equipment and Internet. There are many that spend money on £100+ trainers and latest mobiles yet scream disadvantaged. These need to be weeded out so the real disadvantaged get the deserved help

Just the 7 children.

Just who picks these families on BBC News?

I would think that stopping at 2 kids would have helped her more! 🤷🏻‍♀️ also what is it with them thinking they can come here and just live off the British tax payer, no sympathy at all!!! What would she get in her own country? Bloody zero

A Muslim woman with 7 kids said I can't afford this. Well my answer is she should have stopped at 2.

It's ok, kids can stop going to the school even for several years, as long as they're in custody.

You could always teach them the old fashioned way. Good to see idiots blaming the government for bad parenting.

They can go to school

A Muslim woman with 7 kids says she can't afford it, well my answer is you should have stooped two.

Dear rich, millionaire, billionaire people! If there is a Philanthropy man here who would help me please contact me! (SOS) On February 1, I will be unloaded from the rental apartment and I have nowhere to go. Please help me not to be homeless! Thank you

Dear rich, millionaire, billionaire people! Unfortunately, if I don’t get help, I have to go to a homeless shelter and I won’t know what will happen to my dog. Anyone who can help me contact me here on Twitter or email. bzgbogarkagmail.com (SOS Please

This is why England is Fkd 7 kids and moaning she disadvantaged. Wish I could have seven kids but I can’t because I’m not loaded might give up work and ponce so I can have more children. get real nonsense

That's there fault, make more money.

This is why the DFE has a scheme. If families can't afford the kit - go to the school and tell them. Schools might be able to push for more devices.

So a woman who has chosen to have 7 children is complaining that she can't afford the data/broadband? That isn't societies fault, that's hers for having so many children. How did she pay for data/ internet access before the pandemic? I can't see that in the story.

So what's the story behind the family pictured?. 7 chrilden I struggled to bring up 3 and what's the husband do. Also what's with the walking frame?.

No medical treatment. No education. No freedom. No hope... people in jail have it better

Millions going to food banks... government thinks they are going to have pc's

Seven kids 👇

No reason why schools can't proved hard copies of work for kids.

I find this photo offensive, why picture a Muslim girl in a story about disadvantaged people,

And a picture of a couple of BAMEs lol.. No mention of the poor whites, who are the group most suffering, most underrepresented in universities. GTFO.

Every time BBC talks about poor or disadvantaged people, or victims in general, they always take BAME people. Do you know the true poverty in this country is actually in the country side, but no-one cares

School should also help these children. School should also help these children. School should also help these children. School should also help these children. School should also help these children.

School should also help these children. School should also help these children. School should also help these children.

School should also help these children.

School is not only the New World Religion, it's also the world's fastest-growing labor market. Schools are socially addictive: social addiction, or escalation, consists in the tendency to prescribe increased treatment if smaller quantities have not yielded the desired results.

7 children. 7. 7 children and she’s scratching her head as to why they’re disadvantaged! 🤦‍♂️

School should also help these chidrens.
