“It's less likely for a child to get infected in the school setting than if they were just in the community,” Fauci said.

Dr. Anthony Fauci, one of the government's top public health experts, said Thursday that he supports re-opening schools under the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines amid the coronavirus pandemic.

“I would back the CDC recommendations because that is really based on data… we need to try and get the children back to school and that's the goal of President Biden that in the next 100 days to get the K to eights back in school,” Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, said on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe.

, offered guidance for local officials, school administrators, and parents on how to open schools safely while limiting the spread of COVID-19."Decisions made today can help ensure safe operation of schools and provide critical services to children and adolescents in the U.S.," the scientists said, adding that schools should limit activities that increase the risk of transmission, like indoor sports practices and competitions.

Reopening schools during the pandemic has become a political flashpoint across the country, but the new administration has vowed to reopen schools soon, which could serve as President Joe Biden’s first big test while in office.

USA is bad example to follow for covid related actions, frankly! Rich country with highest death rate in the world

Geez What a difference a couple of weeks does.. this guy is a hypocrite

We need to make teachers a priority and vaccinate us now!

Mine has been open with modifications

We’ve been open, kids have the option for in person or online-majority have chosen in person and we have been successful. My children have NOT had to quarantine, they attend school, dance and team sports. We wear masks, wash hands, use hand sanitizer often.

Does anyone want to talk about the schools that have been open since August? Maybe ask us what’s working and how to do it? Just a suggestion 🙄

Its just scary to think it one of my grandkids could get it at school and bring it home to me, considering I take care of my youngest 3..9, 4 and 2 yrs old. Only the 9 year old would be in person but is doing in line right now due to them not wanting me to get it.

We have been 'trying' in Oklahoma since August...my daughter has now spent more days home quarantined then in school...this week 3 of her teachers have been gone and 1/2 of her math class was out today...she missed quarantine again from that class by being one chair over...

“Preventing transmission in school settings will require addressing and reducing levels of transmission in the surrounding communities through policies to interrupt transmission (eg, restrictions on indoor dining at restaurants).
