The Vice-chancellor, Ekiti State University , Prof. Edward Olanipekun has disclosed that students of the institution were owing a total sum of N2bn as tuition fees.
The Vice-Chancellor who spoke in Ado-Ekiti, on Monday, during a press briefing heralding the university 24th convocation ceremonies, appealed to parents to pay their children’s fees for the institution to meet many of its demands. “As part of the ways to recover the debt, the university is going to generate institutional e-mails to all students where we can interface. But if you are owing, there is no way you can interface with lecturers. We are using this as Online and physical teaching methodologies. You can’t interact with your lecturers or supervisors either for lecture or seminar as a debtor.“We are appealing to parents to please pay for their children to help our financial situation”.
He added that out of the number 52 got first class honours; while 2035 bagged Second class Honours 5372 got Second Class Honours and 2,505 for Third Class Honours.
