Education Undersecretary Alain Pascua said on Friday, December 11, that he tested positive for COVID-19.
In a statement sent to media, Pascua said he is now in a hospital for quarantine procedures after being exposed to a positive case on December 4. "I have already advised my staff who had close contact with me last week to self-quarantine as an extra precautionary measure," he said. Pascua said the Department of Education has already coordinated with health authorities to conduct contact tracing and other necessary procedures to ensure the safety of those he had direct contact with.
"Despite this unfortunate development, I am committed to carry out my duties and roles for the Department and I will continue to attend meetings virtually and make necessary decisions for the Office of the Undersecretary for Administration," he said.
