Reagan and brother Joel, 16, are helping their family with harvest by driving machineryIt's the best season in 15 years for the Lake Cargelligo family
Driving a tractor towing a chaser bin takes concentration and precision as Reagan has to line up the chaser bin with the header. The siblings have taken harvest leave from school to help their family at this busy time of year.He convinced his father, Scott, to let him take harvest leave instead, and Reagan certainly wasn't going to miss out on the action on the farm once she got wind Joel was having time away from the classroom.
"The first road train load we took off one paddock was more than we got off the whole paddock last year.Reagan, 14-year-old Ollie Randall, and Joel have a quick catch-up between the shift change on the harvest gear."It's just good getting out and having a bit of a drive around, seeing how good the crops are and just being with your family, and just helping each other out and getting the crops off," Joel said.
"They are learning skills that are going to set him up for the future, and they are skills that when they finish school could help them pick up work anywhere."
and then we slag down underdeveloped countries for making children work on farms.
