Addressing reporters at Nepean Hospital, the Premier said she was told by the Police Commissioner the emails – that targeted 30 schools on Tuesday and Wednesday, prompting the evacuation of campuses during HSC exams – originated overseas. However, a threatening phone call received by North Sydney Boys High School on Thursday is being treated as a local copycat incident.

The selective boys' high school was evacuated before 10am after the threat was received. A police operation is under way, and no injuries have been reported."The police will come down on you heavily," the Premier warned anyone else considering making a threat against the state's schools.Earlier on Thursday, NSW Police Minister David Elliott warned that the senders of threatening messages would face "the full force of the law".

"From the feedback I have been getting from the community, there will be a strong expectation that, if police prosecute, the full force of the law is passed down," Mr Elliott said.It comes after10 regional schools were targeted by similar emails on WednesdayOn Wednesday, cybercrime squad commander Detective Superintendent Matt Craft said the threats received were "fairly bland" and they had stated that a device had been found on school property.

In each instance, no demands were made in the email. Police had not uncovered any devices in searches of affected schools, he said.
