Senders of threatening messages to NSW schools will face 'the full force of the law', Police Minister David Elliott has warned, as the scam which has forced students to evacuate from their campuses during HSC exams continues for a third day | marywardy

10 regional schools were targeted by similar emails on WednesdayOn Wednesday, cybercrime squad commander Detective Superintendent Matt Craft said the threats received were "fairly bland", stating a device had been found on school property.

In each instance, no demands were made in the email. Police had not uncovered any devices in searches of affected schools. The evacuations have caused major disruption to hundreds of students' HSC examinations. As the exams cannot be re-sat, the students evacuated from the room will be allowed to apply for misadventure and have their exams marked accordingly.

Under new protocols beginning Thursday, police will conduct searches of HSC exam halls and choose not to evacuate students if it is deemed safe. "There'll be protocols that will be put in place between New South Wales Police and Department of Education to mitigate against and reduce the impact of this type of activity," Superintendent Craft said.Get our Morning & Evening Edition newsletters
