and others - and a consortium of aircraft and equipment manufacturers and airport operators, comes as U.S. airlines lose billions of dollars a month as passenger demand remains down 65% year on year because of the coronavirus.
The Aviation Public Health Initiative team at Harvard recommended strategies to mitigate transmission risk on aircraft, during boarding and exiting. The report noted commercial passenger aircraft are equipped with ventilation systems that refresh cabin air on average every 2-3 minutes and removing more than 99% of particles of the size that cause SARS-CoV-2.
The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention this month issued a “strong recommendation” that all passengers and employees on airplanes and in airports should wear masks to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
A report funded by Airlines for America and their member airlines. ECDC report paints a very different picture. Attack rate between 9.8 -17.8 % on a nearly empty wide body flight.
danigibbon isso aí ...
Study was funded by airlines. I'd take it with a sack of salt as with studies on smoking by cigarette companies
People aren't wearing masks tho.
Wait! What about the report of an Irish flight being linked to 59 covid infections?
Hmmm this says 59 cases linked to one 7 hour flight:
Joke of the century
Yes... You can only get COVID19 at bars, church and Trump Rallies... Strange but true.
I think the transmission rate on planes is besides the point. The point is that you really can't go anywhere, especially outside the U.S.
The caveat being that not everyone takes the mask wearing seriously and I'd just rather not.
Zero risk is acceptable. Anything but zero is not.
... and the airport?
except there’s always ONE: antimaskers
Considering the study is funded by airlines and airplane manufacturers who have a lot of motivation to get us back in the air, can we trust it?
I’m still not flying yet.
I found a small problem with this report: 'The report, funded by Airlines for America - a trade group representing American Airlines, United Airlines (UAL.O), Delta Air Lines (DAL.N) and others'
'The report, funded by Airlines for America - a trade group representing American Airlines, United Airlines (UAL.O), Delta Air Lines (DAL.N) and others.' Well no wonder they found there is no problem
Let me guess AA, United and Delta paid for this study?
report? Is that like a scientific study? Or more like a guess?
Most likely because it’s empty !
