Conor HeneghanTeachers are “very fearful” and “full of worry” ahead of a return to school after the mid-term break, according to the President of the Association of Secondary School Teachers, Ireland .on RTE Radio One on Tuesday, Ann Piggott said that she expects schools to be open after this week’s mid-term break, but that the prospect of returning has made teachers “very fearful” following a recent rise in Covid-19 cases and concerns over testing and tracing in schools.

Discussions have been taking place between the Department of Education, the HSE and teachers’ unions about plans to accelerate testing and tracing once positive cases have been identified in schools.
