You think! How do you misunderstand hungry children?

Govt misunderstands public mood period...........

It’s a pity that ‘misunderstanding the mood of the public’ is what they regret, rather than the fact that kids from poor families are going hungry.

Yeah, but who'll be paying for it? Anyone ready to have their taxes raised some more?

Genius! How do they DO it

They are so out of touch!

Senior minister says government ‘misunderstood’. Everything.

No they didn’t! Parents should take responsibility for their children; if they can’t afford them then DON’T have them dickheads!!

Fancy the public mood being low on starving children. What a shock , can’t understand that 🤷🏻‍♀️

The “public mood” should not be the catalyst to make one vote for free school meals for hungry kids. That it would be wrong and disgusting NOT to, should be your only driver.

What they thought the public didn't want starving kids to have food? Yet pour millions into foreign aid to help poor (well some) countries do exactly that!

At times like this governments should be leading from the front not following along behind. If you need a public option poll to tell you that feeding hungry kids is the right thing to do you are a moral black hole that has no business governing anyone!

Apparently feeding hungry children is a 'mood' 🙄

Public say Tories are cruel and nasty.

Do our senior ministers think the public support letting children go hungry. What mood do you think we're in now ToryScumOut

No shit, Sherlock!

Parents feed your kids, if you won’t then hand them over to someone who will.

Tax footballers at 70% then we could all eat for free.

DeniseT01 Imagine thinking the public mood supported letting hungry children starve🤦‍♂️

We know what happened when Marie Antoinette misunderstood the public 😉

So, they’re more concerned about the public mood than the morality of the issue? That sums this lot up beautifully.

After saying to one of their constituents: “'I appreciate that virtue signalling is in vogue, but I am afraid that I take the rather old-fashioned view that parents should be primarily responsible for feeding their children rather than the state.”

Yeah right ! Of course they did! Couldn't possibly be their long held views lacking any humanity as befits the nasty party....ToryScum is so accurate a description

It should not be a question of understanding or misunderstanding the public mood. It should be solely the question of doing the right thing.

Childhood hunger is an issue that should transcend politics!✋

No I’m sorry that won’t wash. You can’t blame a lack of humanity on a misunderstanding

No they didn't. Families get child allowance to feed their kids. If they choose to spend it on themselves, it shouldn't be down to the taxpayer to bail them out. Parents, prioritise feeding your kids instead of being bloody selfish..

Understatement of the year

BorisJohnson 10DowningStreet SelaineSaxby BBradley_Mans Be interesting,if Labour force extra vote or debate (Dickens’s “can I have some more please”) on school meal vouchers for hungry kids in the holidays, just what those morons Saxby and Bradley have to say. Use Workhouses?

The public certainly haven’t misunderstood the views of ministers. Even if they change their mind now, we all know what they thought they could get away with.

There was no misunderstanding mood, they were just spiteful and wrong.

How can they say they misunderstood the mood; they u turned on this in July

Shouldn't that read 'couldn't give a shit about the public mood.' ?

FFS. THE KIDS GET FREE SCHOOL MEALS. WHAT PEOPLE ARE ASKING IS FOR THE GOVERNMENT TO FEED THEM WHEN THEY ARE NOT AT SCHOOL..... THATS WHAT PARENTS ARE FOR

Would sooner see them acting out of a humanitarian sense of decency than 2nd guessing the Polls

Doesn't that say it all? Not that they made a morally shitty decision, but that they misjudged the mood...

Normally people would be fine starving kids but they’re in the mood to feed them right now... 🤦‍♀️

Was he called Sherlock Holmes?

Is there anything they understand about the general public? Genuinely curious 🤔

For the second time in 6 months 🙄

Do you think?

Got to be the understatement of the year. Pillocks.

ToryScum

We feed all of Africa,India, Turkey and Syrias kids sending aid guaranteeing them all 3 meals a day through aid we send and millions of our own kids are starving and have malnutrition and mental health problems through never getting fed

I wish your article did not have a picture of Marcus Rashford with the headline, it does not match the words.

That’s an understatement.

They think 'cause they were voted in, we're all as selfish and greedy as them. Folks wanted Brexit, it doesn't mean they support your 'don't give a shite about the poor' mentality...

Have a national vote then..all i hear is 'yeah, more free stuff' from the non tax payer. Stop putting a plaster on it, treat the wound..feckless parents, who cant be arsed making sandwiches..

If the Tories had an ounce of compassion they wouldn’t have voted against the FSDs in the first place!!

RIP

Imagine this lot understanding the mood of the country

Public mood? What on earth does the public mood have to do with feeding hungry/poor children?
